U-Pick is HERE

Of all the things we have done on the farm in the last year, I still feel one of my favorite times has been our U-Pick Strawberry time.  We opened for U-Pick on Saturday April 27, 2024.  The weather wasn't the greatest and yet everyone who came expressed they had a blast and would be back!

One of my favorite stories ocurred on Sunday evening.  A young momma of four children stayed a while to talk to us, even though her husband was waiting in the vehicle for her with their four tired children.  With tears in her eyes, she told me, "our world needs more of THIS."  You see, she has one child who is on the spectrum for autism.  She brokenheartedly described how when they go places as a family, they do not always feel welcomed or understood.  She stated that here, her family felt peace and they were simply able to enjoy one another.  Just breathing in the fresh air, hearing the birds chirp, and living in the moment was refreshing to her.  If her children had messy faces from munching on strawberries, it was OK.  She stated they felt accepted and just got be who they really are without judgement. 

I admit, as she spoke, a lump appeared in my throat as well.  The peace and calm she explained is EXACTLY what we are wanting to create in this busy world.  We ALL need more of this.  We all need to be able to live in the moment with the people that we love.  I thank you, struggling momma, for sharing your kind words and your family with us for one afternoon.  I also thank you for once again reassuring us that we are doing exactly what God has called us to do.
